Emergency Clothing Closet Replenished in KCK

Douglass Elementary’s Emergency Clothing Closet was completely depleted during its first semester. The school’s parent liaison, Mrs. Maquita Wells, explains, “Some of our Douglass students live in homeless shelters and transitional living situations. We try to provide donated clothing for children who may come to school in their pajamas, without a coat, or worn out shoes because that is all they have. Last semester we gave it all away.” School partner Deacon Dana Nearmyer of the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS, introduced his friends at Gotta Have Hope, Inc. to Mrs. Wells and the staff at Douglass. The organization quickly collected 38 boxes of children’s clothing, 46 coats, and 60 pairs of shoes that were taken to Douglass.
