KCK District Offers Mental Health Training to Community Partners
Assisting youth exhibiting signs of emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges was the focus of an 8-hour training provided free of charge to Caring for Kids community partners in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools. Through the training, partners learned how to provide initial help to young people experiencing mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis and substance use disorders. Small group exercises helped reinforce the information presented, and attendees each received a Youth Mental Health First Aid USA manual and certification in the course.
