DESCRIPTION:  \nPlease join this evening of prayer as people of God gather together from all over the KC metropolitan to pray on behalf of our children and their families.  \nCurrently\, our children and families are suffering in various ways. There is crime in our city\, identity crisis\, drug abuse\, mental illness\, loneliness\, and displacement. We know that God has a plan for our children. We want to mobilize prayer for our children through Jeremiah 29:11:  \n“For I know the plans I have for you”- this is the Lord’s declaration-  \n“plans for your welfare\, not for disaster\, to give you a future and a hope.”   \nWe know that God can give hope to apathetic situations. HE can bring life to the dry places in our community.  We invite fellow believers to lean into the power of prayer and intercede on behalf of our children.  \nHow will we do this? \nSimple. Come together. Worship together. Pray together. Caring for Kids Network has crafted points of prayer for each of the challenges we see first-hand when seeking to support school children through community partnerships. We would like to invite leaders from the city to lead various prayer points\, then we will offer time for attendees to pray together in small groups.  \nDirect Support \nDuring our event\, we will collect basic school supplies for two schools\, Kavoko Primary School and Ivuku Primary School in Kwa Muli\, Kenya. This village has two schools\, educating 600 children. Basic school supplies would give these children the same hope and vision for the future that we desire for all children.   \nHow can you help? \n\nDonate basic school supplies at the August 5 event: School bags\, #2 Pencils\, Notebooks\, Erasers\, Sharpeners\, Rulers. DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Heart of a Champion Gala takes place Thursday\, April 21\, 6:00 – 7:30 PM\, and we would like to invite you to join us. \nThis year our theme is “A Heart of Hope.” We will celebrate the impact partners are making in our community by featuring four Heart of a Champion award-winning school\, faith\, business and civic/nonprofit leaders. \nThe hybrid event will offer both in-person and virtual options\, allowing you to enjoy entertainment and celebrate school and community award winners while supporting Caring for Kids Network’s fundraising. \nThe gala will equip CFKN to reach more students\, impact more families\, and help us reach the goals of more principals. Will you consider being a Caring for Kids Gala Champion and help continue the work to inspire hope and prepare children for their future? \n  \nWe are honored to have Tony Guy as this year’s gala keynote speaker. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1982 and is listed as one of the top 50 all-time greatest players in KU’s basketball history. A 2nd round draft pick by the Boston Celtics\, Mr. Guy went on to play professionally in Switzerland. Mr. Guy has been a State Farm Insurance agent for over 30 years and is a member of Graceway Church\, a Caring for Kids partner in the Raytown School District. He’s currently a member of a small Men’s Bible Study and is a former Sunday School teacher and Men’s Ministry leader. \n \nEmceeing the evening’s gala will be Taylor Johnson\, a multi-skilled reporter specializing in multimedia journalism for KCTV\, appearing mostly during the weekday morning show. Before Kansas City\, Ms. Johnson employed her dynamic storytelling abilities as multimedia reporter and weekend anchor for WTWO-TV in Terre Haute\, Indiana. While she has left behind her hand warmers and fur lined coats and traded them in for a more modest wardrobe suitable for the seasons of Kansas City\, she brings a passion for community engagement\, entertainment\, and weather reporting.  \nRobert Tribitt III and RoJo Crew will provide musical entertainment. Growing up in church while his father Robert Tribitt Jr. played the piano\, Robert Tribitt III grew to love everything about music. Robert Tribitt III has traveled the world playing in various countries. He’s currently the pianist for gospel singer Lynda Randle\, with whom he toured Norway\, Grenada\, the Cayman Islands\, and more. He was the first black gospel pianist to play an acoustic piano in the country of Barbados. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to bring principals\, school liaisons / key staff\, and community partners together once again for the Raytown School Partnership Kickoff Celebration. \nLast year ended strongly with partners banding together to meet the needs of students\, their families\, and school staff in the midst of all of the challenges the school year presented. We will celebrate all that was achieved last school year while welcoming plans for this fall as students return to school. \n\nDr. Allan Markley\, Superintendent\, will have extended time to share with you his vision for 2021-22 and to discuss the vital role that community partners play in serving Raytown Quality Schools.\nPhyllis Smith\, Volunteer and Community Education Coordinator\, and Danielle Nixon\, Chief Communications Officer\, will discuss volunteering at schools.
