Painting School Mascot Helps Create Inviting Learning Environment at Raytown Elementary

Transforming the environment of Raytown’s Southwood Elementary to provide an even warmer, more inviting atmosphere for learning and group gathering times, the school’s community partners recently painted the roadrunner mascot in the school’s entrance and they are creating reading nooks in the hallways.

On a spring conference day, Jen Abercrombie and Lizzy Clark, First Baptist Raytown, and Crystal Mclain, Habitat for Humanity, painted a large mascot to greet students as they enter the school. Later that day, the First Baptist Raytown partners delivered dinner to the hard-working teachers at Westridge Elementary. “I was very impressed with the facility and staff at these schools,” said Jen. “We heard so many times today the passion and commitments these teachers have to invest in the lives of their students.”Southwood Roadrunner
